The trend of the draft beer market has finally caught up in India and I am pretty sure that it will continue to grow amongst beer drinkers. Of course, it’s no surprise that most of us love beer, whether you’re a connoisseur or just sampling suds, The Beer Cafe is the place you have to visit.
Are you one of those who goes through the menu and orders your usual beer because all the beers served in the pubs are almost the same? ‘‘The Beer cafe” recently launched their 10th outlet in one of the happening place Mumbai – Lower Parel. It is undoubtedly THE LARGEST BEER CHAIN in India which serves you 50 different varieties of beer from 19 countries across the world. Isn’t that reason enough to visit this place?
Apart from the location, the place is done up well with the funny pictures and quotes up on their wall which adds to its charm. The staff is cordial and service prompt. At the bar counter, you’ll see a row of labeled levers – the beers the bar has on tap. They have 24 beer brands available on tap to choose from.
The first one I tried from the list was Gateway Hard Cider which is made exclusively from Kashmiri apples. It hits your tongue right after the apple with the perfect balance of tang and sweetness.
This was followed by Amigo’s – tequila flavored beer. The flavor is moderate sweet with lime – citrus – tequila. It’s a perfect drink for the summer.
Next up is Erdinger Dunkel Draught – one of the “good beers” that I had. It’s the dark malt with delicate roasting aromas that gives Dunkel its flavor and strong character.
Gateway Doppelganger – inspired from a classic German dunkelweizen with a sweet malty base, light bready notes, and some mild bitterness in the finish.
Shepherd’s Double Stout Draught – It’s a medium-thick, creamy head – almost brown. Explosive flavors of rich chocolate and coffee literally stain the palate.
HoeGaarden Draught – It smells better than it looks. Expect aromas of cloves, coriander, sweet oranges, and spicy Belgian yeast. You’ll want to drink the beer behind that smell.
Stella Atrios Draught – A tiny hint of skunk, it’s pretty malty with a slight bit of hop bitterness to it. The skunk is not really overpowering but it’s not terrible.
Erdinger Draught – A German beer which is brewed using fine yeast according to a traditional recipe. It tastes mostly of malted wheat and barley with a mildly hoppy aftertaste, but it’s not what you’d call crisp and refreshing. Definitely recommended for wheat beer fans.
Happy by Thirsty – my second favorite from the menu Inspired by Central European and British beers, this lager beer is available at selected restaurants and bars.
Covering the food menu, I had two or three starters and appetizers from the menu and chicken biryani for the main course. Biryani didn’t really go well with the beer but these dishes are worth mentioning.
Garden Fresh Pizza– Thin crust pizza with cherry tomatoes, baby corn & olives. Great ratio of ingredients with a very crispy edge. Beer and Pizza – Serious Life Goals !
Another starter which is highly recommended is Stadium Style Nachos. I usually like nachos with my beer and this one is such a win win dish for me with lots of cheese & jalapeno.
Chicken Koliwada – crispy hot preparation was served with fries and seems like the perfect match for beer.
So head over to Kamala Mills, Lower Parel to chug those beers!
